Exercice 1 — Complétez les nominalisations

Complétez chaque phrase en remplaçant le groupe verbal entre parenthèses par la nominalisation correcte pour reformuler la phrase de manière plus soutenue.

  1. The government's ___ (to decide) to raise taxes provoked widespread discontent among the population.
  2. Her ___ (to refuse) to comply with the new regulations led to an official investigation.
  3. The ___ (to collapse) of the negotiations was attributed to a fundamental lack of mutual trust.
  4. His ___ (to acknowledge) of the problem came far too late to prevent the crisis from escalating.
Correction

  1. The government's decision to raise taxes provoked widespread discontent among the population.
  2. Her refusal to comply with the new regulations led to an official investigation.
  3. The collapse of the negotiations was attributed to a fundamental lack of mutual trust.

Exercice 2 — Corrigez les erreurs de reformulation

Chacune des phrases suivantes contient une erreur liée à l'usage de la voix passive littéraire ou des variations syntaxiques complexes. Réécrivez chaque phrase correctement.

  1. It was widely believed by scholars that the manuscript had been wrote in the twelfth century.
  2. Not only she refused the offer, but she also publicly denounced the terms of the agreement.
  3. So complex was the situation that no resolution could been reached within the allocated timeframe.
  4. Rarely such a compelling argument had been made in favour of reforming the electoral system.
Correction

Pour chaque phrase de départ, choisissez la reformulation complexe qui respecte le registre soutenu, la figure de style ou la variation syntaxique étudiés dans le cours.

  1. Reformulez cette phrase en utilisant une figure d'inversion emphatique : 'The report's conclusions were so alarming that the committee demanded immediate action.'
  2. Reformulez en utilisant la voix passive littéraire à registre soutenu : 'Critics have long debated the moral implications of this doctrine.'
  3. Laquelle de ces phrases illustre correctement l'usage de la litote comme figure de style dans un contexte académique ?
