Ces exercices vous permettent de mettre en pratique les structures de relatives complexes abordées dans le cours : propositions non restrictives, relatives avec préposition et quantificateurs comme ‘most of which’ ou ‘none of whom’.

Exercice 1 — Complétez les relatives complexes

Complétez chaque phrase en choisissant le pronom relatif ou la structure correcte parmi les options proposées, selon le contexte (non restrictif, préposition, quantificateur).

  1. The committee approved three proposals, ___ of which had been submitted by external consultants.
  2. She interviewed dozens of candidates, ___ of whom were actually qualified for the position.
  3. The manuscript, ___ the author had spent a decade writing, was rejected by every major publisher.
  4. They visited five museums, ___ of which contained any works from the early Renaissance period.

Exercice 2 — Corrigez les erreurs dans les relatives complexes

Chaque phrase contient une erreur portant sur la structure de la relative complexe (mauvais pronom, préposition mal placée, quantificateur incorrect). Réécrivez chaque phrase entièrement et correctement.

  2. He met several investors, most of who were reluctant to commit to the project immediately.

Exercice 3 — Choisissez la relative complexe correcte

Pour chaque phrase, choisissez la proposition relative qui convient le mieux sur le plan grammatical et stylistique (niveau C1), en tenant compte du caractère restrictif ou non restrictif et de la position de la préposition.

  2. The expedition comprised twelve scientists, ___ had previous experience in polar research.
  3. His latest novel, ___ critics have devoted considerable attention, defies easy categorisation.
