Exercice 1 — Choisir le bon registre selon la situation
Pour chaque situation, choisissez la formulation la plus appropriée en fonction du contexte et du registre attendu.

- C. Running 5 mins late — be right there!
- B. The findings of our study demonstrate that the prevailing theory requires significant revision.

Exercice 2 — Compléter un échange selon le registre imposé
Complétez chaque réplique manquante de façon à maintenir un registre cohérent avec le contexte indiqué. Rédigez une phrase complète et appropriée.
- Speaker A (HR): Thank you for attending the interview yesterday. We will be in touch shortly.
Speaker B (applicant): ___ - Speaker A: Are you doing anything fun this weekend?
Speaker B: ___ - Team leader: Right, let's get started. As you know, this project has a tight deadline, so coordination is key. Any initial thoughts?
Colleague: ___ - Customer: I am writing to express my dissatisfaction with the service I received on 14 May. ___
Correction
- Speaker B (applicant): Thank you very much for the opportunity; I look forward to hearing from you at your earliest convenience.
- Speaker B: Not much planned yet — maybe we could catch a film or grab some food somewhere?
- Colleague: Thanks for the overview — I think it would be worth clarifying responsibilities early on to avoid any overlap.
- Customer: I would therefore request that the matter be investigated and that an appropriate remedy be offered at your earliest opportunity.
Exercice 3 — Reformuler selon le registre cible
Reformulez chaque phrase pour l'adapter au registre indiqué entre parenthèses. La reformulation doit être une phrase complète qui conserve le sens d'origine.
- We need to talk about the budget cuts ASAP. (→ reformuler en registre formel, pour un e-mail à la direction)
- I hereby wish to formally notify you that I shall be unable to attend the aforementioned engagement. (→ reformuler en registre informel, pour un SMS à un ami)
