Exercice 2 — Corrigez les figures de style malformées

- It was the best of times, it was the worst of time. (parallélisme)
- Rarely he has spoken with such passion and clarity. (inversion syntaxique)
- She came, she saw, she has conquered. (anaphore et parallélisme temporel)

Correction
- It was the best of times, it was the worst of times.

- Some people eat to live; others live to eat.
Exercice 3 — Identifiez la figure de style
Choisissez la figure de style grammaticale correctement illustrée par chaque phrase parmi les quatre propositions.
- "I came, I saw, I conquered" — Which grammatical figure of style does this sentence exemplify?
- "Had I known the truth, I would have acted differently" — Which grammatical figure of style is at work here?
- "She smiled; he frowned" — Which grammatical figure of style best describes this construction?
- "Fair is foul, and foul is fair" — Which grammatical figure of style is illustrated here?
Correction
- C. Anaphore, because the personal pronoun "I" is repeated at the beginning of each successive clause.
- B. Inversion syntaxique, because the auxiliary "had" is placed before the subject "I" to replace the conditional "if" clause.
- A. Ellipse, because shared elements such as the verb and its complement have been deliberately omitted to create concision.
- D. Chiasme, because the two key terms "fair" and "foul" are reversed in the second clause, creating a cross-structure.
