Exercice 1 — Fill in the Blanks: Past Conditional

Complete each sentence using the correct past conditional form (would have + past participle) of the verb given in brackets.

1. If she had studied harder, she ___ (pass) the exam.
2. They ___ (arrive) on time if they had taken the earlier train.
3. He ___ (not make) that mistake if he had read the instructions carefully.
4. We ___ (enjoy) the concert more if the weather had been better.

Exercice 2 — Sentence Transformation: Expressing Regrets

Rewrite each sentence using the past conditional (would have + past participle) to express a regret or a missed opportunity, as shown in the course.

1. I didn't apply for the job, so I didn't get it. (If I / apply)
2. She didn't bring an umbrella, so she got soaked. (If she / bring)
3. He didn't save his work, so he lost everything. (If he / save)
4. They didn't book in advance, so they missed the show. (If they / book)

Correction

1. If I had applied for the job, I would have gotten it.
