Exercise 1 — Which expression should you use?

For each situation, choose the most appropriate Spanish sentence from the options given.

1. Vous êtes dans la rue et vous voulez demander poliment à un inconnu adulte où se trouve la pharmacie. Que dites-vous ?
2. Vous voulez savoir combien de temps il faut pour aller à la gare. Quelle question posez-vous ?
3. Un passant vous répond : « Gire a la derecha en el semáforo. » Que devez-vous faire ?
4. Vous cherchez un supermarché et vous voulez savoir s’il en existe un dans les environs. Quelle phrase utilisez-vous ?

Correction

1. Perdone, ¿dónde está la farmacia?
2. ¿Cuánto tiempo se tarda en llegar a la estación?
3. Tourner à droite au feu tricolore.
4. ¿Hay un supermercado aquí cerca?

Exercise 2 — Complete the dialogue

Complete each missing line of the dialogue using the expressions and vocabulary from the course. Write a full sentence in Spanish.

1. Un touriste aborde un passant pour lui demander où se trouve l’hôpital. Écrivez la question polie qu’il pose (avec usted).
2. Le passant répond que l’hôpital est loin. Le touriste veut alors savoir combien de temps il faut pour y aller. Écrivez sa question.
3. Le passant lui indique : « Siga todo recto y gire a la izquierda en el cruce. » Le touriste n’a pas compris le mot ‘cruce’. Il demande s’il doit tourner au feu tricolore. Écrivez sa question.
4. Le passant confirme et ajoute que la mairie est juste après le carrefour. Le touriste le remercie. Écrivez la réplique finale du touriste.

Correction

1. Perdone, ¿puede ayudarme? ¿Dónde está el hospital?
2. ¿Cuánto tiempo se tarda en llegar al hospital?
3. ¿Tengo que girar en el semáforo?
4. Muchas gracias, muy amable.

Exercise 3 — Rephrase politely

Each sentence is correct but too direct or informal. Rephrase it in Spanish in a more polite and complete way, using the expressions from the course.

1. ¿Dónde está el metro? (demande sèche, sans accroche)
2. ¿Hay un banco? (demande trop courte et informelle)
3. ¿Cómo llego al aeropuerto? (sans formule de politesse)
4. ¿El ayuntamiento está lejos? (informel et sans accroche)

1. Disculpe, ¿puede indicarme dónde está el metro?
2. Perdone, ¿sabe usted si hay un banco aquí cerca?
3. Perdone, ¿puede ayudarme? ¿Cómo llego al aeropuerto?
