Ces exercices vous permettent de mettre en pratique les structures de l’impératif passé en anglais vues dans le cours : should have, could have et must have suivis du participe passé pour exprimer regrets, reproches et déductions.

Exercice 1 — Complétez avec la bonne structure

Complétez chaque phrase en choisissant entre should have, could have ou must have, puis conjuguez correctement le verbe entre parenthèses.

  1. You ___ (study) harder before the exam. You knew it was difficult!
  2. She ___ (take) the earlier train. Then she wouldn't have been late.
  3. He looks exhausted. He ___ (work) all night to finish that report.
  4. They ___ (call) us before coming. We weren't ready at all.
Correction

  1. You should have studied harder before the exam.
  2. She could have taken the earlier train.
  3. He must have worked all night to finish that report.
  4. They should have called us before coming.

Exercice 2 — Transformez les phrases

Réécrivez chaque phrase en utilisant la structure indiquée entre parenthèses pour exprimer un regret, un reproche ou une déduction sur le passé.

  1. It was a mistake not to bring an umbrella. (should have)
  2. I'm sure she didn't hear the alarm. (must have + negative)
  3. It was possible for him to ask for help, but he didn't. (could have)
  4. It was wrong of you to leave without saying goodbye. (should have + negative)
Correction

  1. You should have brought an umbrella.
  2. She must have not heard the alarm.
  3. He could have asked for help.
  4. You shouldn't have left without saying goodbye.

Exercice 3 — Corrigez les erreurs

Chaque phrase contient une erreur liée à l'utilisation de should have, could have ou must have. Réécrivez la phrase correctement en entier.

  1. She should have study more before the test.
  2. They could have been arrive earlier if they had left on time.
  3. He must have forgot his keys because he rang the doorbell.
  4. You should have not said that to her, it was very hurtful.
Correction

  1. She should have studied more before the test.
  2. They could have arrived earlier if they had left on time.
  3. He must have forgotten his keys because he rang the doorbell.
  4. You shouldn't have said that to her, it was very hurtful.
