Exercises C1 : use Spanish conditional tense naturally (practice and corrections)

These exercises will help you practise the advanced uses of the Spanish conditional mood covered in the lesson: hypothetical sentences, polite requests, past supposition and indirect speech.

Exercise 1 — Fill in with the correct conditional structure

Complete each sentence by choosing the correct structure from the hints in brackets, then rewrite the full sentence.

1. Si ___ (tener / indicatif présent ou subjonctif imparfait) más tiempo, te ayudaría con el proyecto. (hypothèse improbable au présent)
2. ___ (Ser / condicional simple) las dos de la madrugada cuando sonó el teléfono. (supposition sur un fait passé)
3. Ella dijo que ___ (llamar / condicional simple) en cuanto llegara al aeropuerto. (discours indirect au passé)
4. Si ___ (estudiar / subjonctif plus-que-parfait) más, habría aprobado el examen con mejor nota. (hypothèse impossible dans le passé)

Exercise 2 — Correct the conditional errors

Each sentence contains one error related to the use of the conditional in Spanish. Identify the mistake and rewrite the full sentence correctly.

1. Si tendría dinero, me compraría una casa en el campo.
2. Juan anunció que habrá una reunión al día siguiente.
3. Si hubiera sabido la verdad, te lo decía antes.
4. ¿Podía usted hablar más despacio, por favor? (contexte : demande polie formelle avec conditionnel de courtoisie)

For each Spanish sentence, choose the option that correctly describes the use of the conditional according to the concepts studied in the lesson.
