Exercice 1 — Fill in the Blanks: Passive Structures

Complete each sentence with the correct passive form of the verb given in brackets.

  1. The new bridge ___ (build) in 2019.
  2. The results ___ (not / announce) yet.
  3. At the time of the accident, the road ___ (repair) by the council.
  4. The report ___ (submit) to the board by next Friday.
Correction

  1. The new bridge was built in 2019.

Exercice 2 — Active to Passive: Sentence Transformation

Rewrite each active sentence in the passive voice, keeping the same tense and meaning. Begin your answer with the underlined word.

  1. Scientists have discovered a new species in the Amazon. (Begin with: A new species…)
  2. The government is reviewing the new legislation. (Begin with: The new legislation…)
  3. They had already signed the contract before the meeting. (Begin with: The contract…)
  4. The company will launch the product next month. (Begin with: The product…)

Exercice 3 — Error Correction: Fix the Passive Form

Each sentence contains one error in the passive form. Identify and correct it by rewriting the full sentence correctly.

  1. The documents were be sent to the wrong address.
  2. This policy has announced by the minister this morning.
  3. The suspects are being questioned by the police since yesterday.
  4. A new hospital will built in the city centre next year.
