Exercice 1 — ¿Cuál es el verdadero significado?

Lee cada oración en inglés y elige la opción que refleja el significado correcto de la palabra subrayada, sabiendo que parece una palabra española pero no lo es.

  1. She was very embarrassed when she forgot her colleague's name at the meeting.
  2. My parents actually live in a large library, not a small apartment.
  3. The doctor gave him a lecture about the dangers of smoking.
  4. She asked her assistant to record the minutes of the meeting.
Correction

  1. She felt ashamed and uncomfortable.
  2. My parents live in a place full of books open to the public.
  3. The doctor gave him a long serious talk to warn him.
  4. She asked her assistant to write down the official notes of the meeting.

Exercice 2 — Une el falso amigo con su significado real

Asocia cada palabra inglesa (falso amigo) con la oración que describe correctamente su verdadero significado en inglés.

  1. carpet
  2. sympathetic
  3. sensible
  4. eventually
Correction

  1. A thick fabric covering that goes on the floor of a room.
  2. Showing understanding and care for someone who is suffering.
  3. Having or showing good and practical judgment.
  4. After a long time or series of events, at last.

Exercice 3 — Completa con el falso amigo correcto

Completa cada oración con la palabra inglesa correcta entre paréntesis. Elige la que corresponde al verdadero significado en inglés, no al español.

  1. After years of hard work, she ___ (eventually / actually) got the promotion she deserved. She had never given up.
  2. He felt very ___ (embarrassed / pregnant) when he realized he had been speaking to the wrong person on the phone.
