Exercice 1 — Complétez les subordonnées avancées

Complétez chaque phrase en conjuguant ou en choisissant la forme correcte du verbe entre parenthèses pour que la subordonnée soit grammaticalement et sémantiquement correcte.

  1. Even though she ___ (study) hard all semester, she failed to pass the final exam.
  2. He speaks very quietly so that his colleagues ___ (not / disturb) during the meeting.
  3. Provided that the budget ___ (approve) by the board, we will launch the project next quarter.
  4. Much as I ___ (appreciate) your offer, I am afraid I cannot accept it at this stage.
Correction

  1. Even though she had studied hard all semester, she failed to pass the final exam.
  2. He speaks very quietly so that his colleagues are not disturbed during the meeting.
  3. Provided that the budget is approved by the board, we will launch the project next quarter.
  4. Much as I appreciate your offer, I am afraid I cannot accept it at this stage.

Exercice 2 — Corrigez les erreurs dans les subordonnées

Chacune des phrases suivantes contient une erreur liée à l'emploi d'une subordonnée avancée (concession, condition, but ou cause). Réécrivez chaque phrase en corrigeant l'erreur.

  1. Despite she was exhausted after the long journey, she insisted on attending the conference.
  2. He lowered his voice in order to not wake up the sleeping children in the next room.
  3. Unless you will submit the report by Friday, the project cannot move forward as planned.
  4. Seeing as that the negotiations had broken down, the two parties decided to seek mediation.
Correction

  1. Despite being exhausted after the long journey, she insisted on attending the conference.
  2. He lowered his voice in order not to wake up the sleeping children in the next room.
  3. Unless you submit the report by Friday, the project cannot move forward as planned.

Pour chaque phrase, choisissez parmi les quatre options le connecteur qui exprime correctement la relation logique indiquée entre parenthèses (concession, condition, but ou cause).

  2. ___ he had prepared extensively for the presentation, he could not answer the committee's unexpected questions. (concession)
