Exercice 1 — Le recul des temps au discours indirect

Complétez chaque phrase en choisissant la forme verbale correcte qui respecte la concordance des temps au discours indirect.

  1. She told me that she ___ (finish) the report the day before, but her manager hadn't reviewed it yet.
  2. He explained that the team ___ (work) on the new proposal for three weeks and that they were close to a breakthrough.
  3. They announced that the conference ___ (take place) in Berlin the following month, provided funding was secured.

Transformez chaque phrase du discours direct en discours indirect en appliquant correctement le recul des temps (backshift).

  2. Direct speech: "We are currently reviewing all the available evidence," the detective told the journalist.
  3. Direct speech: "The results will be published as soon as the data is verified," the scientist announced.
  4. Direct speech: "I had already sent the contract before I realised there was a mistake," the assistant admitted.

  2. My colleague mentioned that she will attend the seminar the next day, but she eventually couldn't make it.
