Estos ejercicios te ayudarán a aplicar las expresiones sarcásticas en inglés que has visto en el curso, tanto en contextos británicos como americanos. Pon a prueba tu comprensión del tono, el vocabulario y las situaciones adecuadas para usar el sarcasmo con naturalidad.

Exercice 1 — ¿Cuál es la respuesta sarcástica adecuada?

Lee cada situación y elige la respuesta más sarcástica y culturalmente apropiada en inglés.

  1. Tu collègue arrive en réunion avec 30 minutes de retard et dit qu'il était très occupé. Que réponds-tu de manière sarcastique ? / Tu colega llega 30 minutos tarde a una reunión y dice que estaba muy ocupado. ¿Qué respuesta sarcástica escoges?
  2. Tu amigo olvidó por tercera vez devolverte el dinero que le prestaste. ¿Cuál es la respuesta más sarcástica?
  3. Tu jefe elogia un informe que claramente no ha leído. ¿Qué respuesta sarcástica encaja mejor en un contexto profesional británico?
  4. Alguien dice que descubrió una técnica 'revolucionaria' que en realidad todos conocen desde hace años. ¿Cuál es la respuesta sarcástica más natural en inglés americano?
Correction

  1. A) Oh, sure, because none of us have anything else to do but wait for you.
  2. A) Would you like me to remind you again next month, or shall we make it a yearly tradition?
  3. A) Yes, I'm particularly proud of the section you clearly read in great depth.
  4. A) Wow, what a groundbreaking discovery — I'm sure no one has ever thought of that before.

Exercice 2 — Completa el diálogo sarcástico

Completa cada intercambio con una réplica sarcástica completa y natural en inglés, coherente con el tono y el contexto del curso.

  1. Speaker A: 'I told you the project would fail and you didn't listen to me.' Speaker B: ___ (responde con sarcasmo reconociendo su 'genialidad')
  2. Speaker A: 'I only sent you forty-seven emails this morning.' Speaker B: ___ (responde con sarcasmo sobre la cantidad de emails)
  3. Speaker A: 'Sorry I forgot your birthday — I've just been so busy with my own life.' Speaker B: ___ (responde con sarcasmo sobre sus prioridades)
  4. Speaker A: 'The meeting only went three hours over schedule.' Speaker B: ___ (responde con sarcasmo británico sobre la duración)
Correction

  1. Speaker B: 'Oh, absolutely — you're practically a prophet. We should all just bow to your infinite wisdom from now on.'
  2. Speaker B: 'Only forty-seven? I was starting to think you'd gone quiet on me — I barely noticed them piling up.'
  3. Speaker B: 'No, of course, please don't let my birthday inconvenience your incredibly packed schedule.'
  4. Speaker B: 'Oh, a mere three hours — practically a quick coffee break by our standards, really.'

Exercice 3 — Reformula con sarcasmo

Reformula cada enunciado directo y sincero convirtiéndolo en una frase sarcástica completa y natural en inglés, aplicando los recursos del curso (entonación implícita, ironía, expresiones clave).

  1. Frase sincera: 'This meeting could have been an email.' → Reformúlala como una respuesta sarcástica cuando alguien pregunta cómo fue la reunión.
  2. Frase sincera: 'You always arrive late.' → Reformúlala como un comentario sarcástico cuando alguien llega tarde una vez más.
  3. Frase sincera: 'That was an obvious mistake that anyone could have avoided.' → Reformúlala con sarcasmo al comentar el error de un colega.
  4. Frase sincera: 'You're giving me advice on cooking even though you can't cook.' → Reformúlala con sarcasmo americano cuando alguien sin experiencia te da instrucciones.
Correction

  1. Oh, it was absolutely riveting — four hours of our lives we'll never get back, but I'm sure it couldn't possibly have been summarised in a two-line email.
  2. Oh, look who decided to grace us with their presence — and only forty minutes late this time, which is practically early for you.
  3. Well, clearly it takes a very special kind of talent to overlook something that was printed in bold on the first page of the brief.
  4. Oh, by all means, please go on — because who better to take culinary advice from than someone whose greatest achievement in the kitchen is boiling water.
