Exercice 1 — Fill in the Blanks: Active or Passive?

Complete each sentence with the correct active or passive form of the verb in brackets.

  1. The report ___ (write) by the manager every Friday.
  2. Scientists ___ (discover) a new species in the rainforest last year.
  3. The windows ___ (clean) by the maintenance team this morning.
  4. They ___ (not finish) the project before the deadline.
Correction

Exercice 2 — Active to Passive (and Back)

Rewrite each sentence by transforming it from active to passive voice, or from passive to active voice, as indicated.

  1. Active → Passive: The chef prepares a special meal every evening.
  2. Active → Passive: The police arrested three suspects last night.
  3. Passive → Active: The new bridge was designed by a famous architect.
  4. Passive → Active: The letter was sent by the company yesterday.
Correction

  1. A special meal is prepared by the chef every evening.
  2. Three suspects were arrested by the police last night.

  4. The company sent the letter yesterday.

Exercice 3 — Spot and Correct the Errors

Each sentence contains an error in the use of active or passive voice. Identify the mistake and rewrite the sentence correctly.
