Who are we?
Our website address is: https://vocaverb.com.
Comments
When you leave a comment on our site, the data entered in the comment form, as well as your IP address and browser user agent, are collected to help us detect spam.
An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be sent to the Gravatar service to check if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After your comment is approved, your profile picture will be publicly visible next to your comment.
Media
If you upload images to the site, we advise you to avoid uploading images containing EXIF GPS location data. People visiting your site can download and extract location data from these images.
Cookies
If you leave a comment on our site, you may opt-in to saving your name, email address, and website in cookies. This is for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.
If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.
When you log in, we will set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen option cookies last for one year. If you select “Remember Me,” your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.
When you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie does not contain any personal data. It simply indicates the ID of the post you just edited. It expires after one day.
Embedded content from other websites
Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g., videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the same way as if the visitor had visited the other website.
These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.
Use and transmission of your personal data
If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the password reset email.
Your VocaVerb account
When you create a free account, we collect your first name, your email address and the password you choose, as well as your interface language and the languages you are learning. Your password is never stored in plain text: only an irreversible hash is kept. This data is used to create and manage your account, to let you sign in (on the website and in the exercises app) and to send you messages related to your account. The data controller is STAN-Conseil (see our Legal Notice).
To complete your registration, we send you an email containing a confirmation link, valid for 24 hours; until your address is confirmed, you cannot sign in. We also send you an email if you request a new password (link valid for 1 hour), an information email when your password is changed, and a message to the address concerned if someone tries to create an account with an address that is already registered. Once your address is confirmed, we also send you a welcome message. These are service messages, not advertising. They are sent by the website’s server and delivered through Google’s email service (Gmail, SMTP protocol).
To protect registration and the contact and issue-report forms against bots, we use the Cloudflare Turnstile service, provided by Cloudflare, Inc. When you use it, Cloudflare may process technical data related to your browsing (for example your IP address and signals from your browser) in order to tell a human from a bot. The purpose is the security of these forms. Cloudflare acts as a processor. As Cloudflare is established outside the European Union, this processing may involve a transfer of data outside the European Union; the terms are described in Cloudflare’s privacy policy: https://www.cloudflare.com/privacypolicy/.
Your messages (contact and issue reports)
When you use the “Contact us” or “Report an issue” form, we collect the content of your message and, depending on the form, your name and email address (required for contact, optional for issue reports), as well as the address of the page concerned. This data is used only to reply to you and handle your request. It is kept for as long as needed for that purpose; you can ask for it to be deleted at any time by writing to us through the Contact page. The data controller is STAN-Conseil.
Each message reaches us by email through Google’s email service (Gmail). To limit abuse, your IP address is used temporarily (one hour at most) to count the number of submissions, and messages containing links to other sites or longer than 500 characters are rejected.
How long we retain your data
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This allows us to automatically recognize and approve any follow-up comments instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
For accounts that register on our site (if applicable), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All account holders can view, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except for their username). Website administrators can also view and edit this information.
Your rights regarding your data
If you have an account or have left comments on the site, you can request to receive a file containing all the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request the deletion of your personal data. This does not include data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
Where your data is sent
Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.
Service emails (registration confirmation, forgotten password, password change notice) are delivered through Google’s email service (Gmail). The registration bot check is provided by Cloudflare (Turnstile).
